Guest WiFi configuration
To configure the Guest WiFi via the TP Link Omada Cloud interface, login to your TP Link Omada Cloud account, then follow each of the sections below in order.
WLAN set up
Once you have logged in to your Omada controller, change from the Global view to the Site view using the dropdown menu in the top left of the screen. Then follow the steps below to configure your WLAN:
Click Settings in the left-hand menu, and then select WLAN.
Create WLAN Group
π Note: This step is optional. Skip to the Create a Wireless Network section not required.
There is a Default WLAN Group created as standard, but if you would like to create a new group follow the steps below:
Select the WLAN Group drop down and click Create New Group.
Name: enter the name for the group
Copy WLANs: If you want to copy over any existing SSIDs from your default WLAN group tick the Copy All SSIDs from the WLAN Group option.
Click Save to apply.
Create a Wireless Network
Click Create New Wireless Network on the top right. Configure the following:
Network Name SSID: e.g. _Venue Name Guest WiFi
Guest Network: Enable
Security: None
OWE: Enable
Other settings can be left as default.
Click Apply to save.
External Portal set up
To complete the portal configuration, follow the steps below:
Go to the Settings menu and select Portal under the Authentication section.
On the Portal tab, click Create New Portal in the top right and configure the below:
Portal Name: set to whatever you prefer.
Portal: Enable.
SSID & Network: select your WLAN Group and Guest SSID created previously.
Authentication type: External Portal Server
Custom Portal Server: Select URL and then choose https:// then paste the appropriate link based on your region:
Europe: wifi.wireless-social.com/login/tplink/omada/cloud-ess
Americas: wifi-us.wireless-social.com/login/tplink/omada/cloud-ess
Landing Page: Select The Promotional URL and then choose https:// then paste the appropriate link based on your region:
Europe: wifi.wireless-social.com/login/tplink/omada/cloud-ess?wslr=ok
Americas: wifi-us.wireless-social.com/login/tplink/omada/cloud-ess?wslr=ok
Click Apply to save.
Walled Garden set up
Once the portal details have been saved, then click on the Access Control tab at the top of the page to add the walled garden URLs.
Next to the Pre-Authentication Access option click the Enable tick box.
You will need to add each of the walled garden domains. There may also be other relevant regional accounts if your venue is outside of the UK or US that you will need to add to the Pre-Authentication Access List.
To add an entry, follow these steps:
Click Add on the top right and a new menu box will appear.
Change IP Range to URL and then enter the domain.
Click Add New Pre-Authentication Access Entry to add the remaining.
Click Apply to save.
Configure API for Device Authentication
You will now need to configure the API. Click on the Hotspot menu option in the left-hand menu underneath Settings.

Create an Operator User
To create an Operator User, follow the steps below:
Select Operators in the left-hand menu.
Then click the Create Operator button in the top right. Configure with:
Username: whatever you wish.
Password: a strong password is recommended.
β οΈ Important: The operator username and password must be supplied to Wireless Social so that we can authenticate the device to get it online.
Role: Admin.
Site Privileges: this must include all sites that will need Wireless Social to authenticate devices for the Guest WiFi.
Click Save.
Get the Controller ID and API URL
The Controller ID and API URL are in the URL used in the Omada Essentials Hotspot Management page.
In the below screenshot, the text contained within the red box is the Controller ID and the URL within the green box is the API URL.
Example:
Controller ID: ffff167a1ee502c6a496c83e3c101607
β οΈ Important: Your controller ID and API URL must also be supplied to Wireless Social.
Contact Wireless Social
The final step is to send the following information to Wireless Social Support:
Operator Username.
Operator Password.
Controller ID.
Controller API URL.
Wireless Social will add these details into our portal to complete the set up.
