Cambium access point troubleshooting steps

If you have a Cambium access point installed but your Guest WiFi isn't working, then follow the below troubleshooting steps in order to try to get back up and running:

Step 1: Is your access point getting power?

If your access point is correctly powered on you should see a blue LED light. If you're not seeing this, complete the following checks:

  1. Check the cables:

    1. One cable should go from the Cambium device to the POE port on the power injector - this is usually a small black device.

    2. Another cable should go from the LAN port on the power injector to your internet router or switch.

    3. The power injector must be plugged into a power socket.

  2. If the cables are set up correctly, look for a light on the power injector:

    1. If there's no light, it might be broken. Contact the Support team for further support.

πŸ€“ Tip: Try using a different cables in case they're faulty. If you have multiple access points you can also try swapping the power injector with one from another working device.

Step 2: What Colour Is the Light on the Cambium Device?

If your access point is powering on, when the device starts up, the LED light should change from: Red to Amber to Green and finally to Blue.

πŸ“Œ Note: This can take up to 10 minutes the first time as an update may need to be downloaded and installed by the Access Point.

If the LED light stays green, it means the device has power but isn’t connecting to the internet. Try the below steps to get back online:

  1. Restart the access point:

    1. Unplug the access point or switch off the power for 10–20 seconds, then plug the device back in.

    2. Watch for the LED light to go through the colour cycle and end on blue.

  2. If it’s still stuck on the green LED, check the below:

    1. Make sure the cable plugged into the LAN port on the power injector is plugged into a LAN port on your router or switch - this is usually yellow or numbered.

    2. Try a different LAN port.

πŸ“Œ Note: If using a wall network socket, it may need to be connected at a patch panel, if you're not sure it is working. You may need to try a few different ports, or contact your external IT company to make sure the ports are set up for use.

Step 3: Still Not Working? Reset the device

If you're still having trouble, the final step is to use the factory reset button.

  1. Turn the Cambium device over and look for a small reset button near the cable port.

  2. Use a pen or paperclip to press and hold the button for 15–20 seconds.

  3. The device should restart and go through the colour cycle again.
