Calendar event markers apply a coloured visual overlay to your time series charts, so you can clearly see the impact of any changes or events on your key metrics. Create events in the Calendars menu, configure your date ranges, and apply them to any Standard or Custom Report.

Create a calendar event

Before you can apply an overlay, you'll first need to create a calendar event. Follow the steps below:

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Calendars.

  2. Click New Calendar.

  3. Enter a name for the event, such as World Cup 2026.

📌 Note: This is the name that will appear in the report filters.

  4. Select the relevant Access Group from the dropdown list.

  5. Click Save. The event will now appear in the table.

You can now set the overlay colour and the dates you want to monitor:

  1. To set the colour, click the colour bar and select your preferred colour.

  2. To set your date ranges, click the cog icon and click Edit.

  3. Click the date picker, and set the dates you want to monitor. You can choose between set time periods, such as last month, or choose a custom range.

  4. Enter an event name and then click Add Event.

  5. To add multiple events, repeat steps 3 and 4.

Manage a calendar event

To edit a calendar event, follow the steps below:

  1. Locate the calendar event in the table list, then click the cog icon and click Edit.

  2. To add a new date to your event, set a date using the date picker and enter an event name.

  3. Click Add Event.

You can delete an entire calendar event, or a specific event that you no longer want to monitor.

To delete an entire calendar event:

  • Locate the calendar event in the table list, then click the cog icon and click Delete.

To delete a specific date from your calendar event:

  1. Locate the calendar event in the table list, then click the cog icon and click Edit.

  2. Find the event in the list, click the cog icon and click Delete.

Apply a calendar event overlay to a report

Once you have set up a calendar event, you can apply a calendar event marker overlay to your time series reports.

  1. From the left-hand menu, click Standard Reports or Custom Reports.

  2. Select the required report.

  3. From the filter list at the top of the page, click the Select events dropdown and select your calendar event.

  4. Click Apply.

The coloured overlay appears on your chosen dates. Here's an example:
